Scotland in Union's reaction to the Scottish Parliament results

Response to the Scottish Election results from Scotland in Union's Director Alastair Cameron:

“We congratulate Nicola Sturgeon on her victory in the Scottish Parliament election.

Although her party has lost its majority, Nicola Sturgeon has still been entrusted with great responsibility as First Minister of Scotland.

We hope that this result can lead to a different kind of politics, moving away from divisive constitutional debates, and focusing on the real issues facing Scots today. It will help everyone in Scotland if parties can find common ground and use the powers they have, working positively within the UK.

A new referendum on Scottish independence should now be firmly off the table. We need to move on, together.”
