Commenting on the new Scottish Government independence paper

The Scottish Government today launched ‘A Fresh Start With Independence’, its latest policy document for separation.

It contained a number of commitments on areas from the EU and nuclear weapons, to pensions and climate change.

Alastair Cameron, chair of Scotland in Union, said:

“Much like the old White Paper, the 'Growth Commission Report' and the previous series of papers, this document is yet another re-hashed wishlist.

“Its assertions and unrealistic assumptions are clearly designed to mask the true costs and risks of breaking the UK apart.

“The majority of Scots have no interest in leaving the UK, and they want a government which focuses on its everyday responsibilities.

“That the nationalists again saw fit to spend taxpayers’ money on party political propaganda proves they are unfit for office, and must be removed in the May 2026 Holyrood election.”
